A NEW CONCEPT in short term missions.
We have all participated in these trips before, we travel to the poor country, help build a church for a week, and soon return home. They serve as a great getaway from the norm and we helped some brothers and sisters in a desolate land. Yet we frequently experience a nagging feeling that with the amount of resources spent to get in country we should have created a more lasting impact. Jesus has called us not just to produce fruit for a season, but to produce fruit that lasts (John 15:16).
The new mPower Modules: These packaged training modules allow you to teach a skill to leave behind with the people you minister to. Each mPower Module is designed to integrate a Christian worker into the culture, serve the people they are called to, and generate the means to materially support the worker’s family. mPower plans every aspect for the Trainer from technology, technique, and operations to how the module should be integrated with ministry. This is a new paradigm in short term missions, but one that the Lord has used throughout history to allow for the gospel to be proclaimed in a sustainable way, from the sink road where Christians brought physicians and merchants to trade with the east in the first millennium to today where solar powered dental chairs are utilized to care for people in the name of Christ.
The I-See program’s unique design allows for the training of a non-medical person in the sizing of eyeglasses. The non-verbal training video coupled with easy to understand charts and an eyeglass sizing device, enables a short term team to train a group indigenous believers who will be ready to serve a community and display the love of Christ. These Community Health Workers (CHW) will then be able to teach others in outlying Christian communities to size eyeglasses, with the ripple for the Kingdom of God spreading outward. Who, but the Lord, knows the impact that your one visit could make for eternity?
